Terms of Service
Last updated: May 21, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of PhoneLookup (phonelookup.in) and any related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use PhoneLookup.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service. If you use PhoneLookup on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. What PhoneLookup is
PhoneLookup is an information service that aggregates community reports, public phone numbering metadata (powered by Google's libphonenumber) and aggregate search signals to help users identify unknown callers. PhoneLookup is not a telecom carrier, a credit bureau, a background-check service, or a substitute for law-enforcement reporting.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to harass, dox, defame, stalk or threaten any person.
- Submit false, misleading or automated reports, ratings or comments.
- Scrape, mass-download or republish data from the Service without our written consent.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, probe or breach the security of the Service.
- Use the Service to violate Indian law, including the IT Act, 2000 and DPDP, 2023.
Violations may result in immediate suspension of access, removal of contributed content, and where appropriate, referral to law-enforcement authorities.
4. Community contributions
When you submit a report, tag, comment or other content ("User Content"), you grant PhoneLookup a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, display, adapt, translate and aggregate that content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. You retain ownership of your contributions. We may remove User Content that violates these Terms, applicable law or third-party rights, at our sole discretion.
5. Accuracy and "as-is" service
Community contributions are user-generated and unverified. Carrier, location and line-type information is derived from public numbering plans and may be incorrect or outdated. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You should not rely on PhoneLookup as the sole basis for any consequential decision (financial, legal, employment, safety).
6. Reporting fraud to authorities
PhoneLookup is a community resource, not an emergency service. If you have been the victim of fraud, contact official channels immediately. In India: call 1930 (National Cybercrime Helpline) or file at cybercrime.gov.in. See our Help Center for the full list.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, code, branding, aggregate datasets and editorial content, is owned by PhoneLookup and protected by copyright and other laws. The "PhoneLookup" name and logo are our trademarks. Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use them without prior written permission.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers (hosting, analytics, search-engine integrations). Use of those providers is also governed by their respective terms. We are not responsible for third-party content or external links.
9. Removal & takedown
If a number, comment or report identifies you and you would like it removed, email privacy@phonelookup.in with the URL and a short reason. We respond to valid removal requests within 7 working days. See our Privacy Policy for details.
10. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PhoneLookup disclaims all liability for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed INR 1,000.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PhoneLookup and its operators from any claim, loss or expense arising out of (a) your use of the Service, (b) your User Content, or (c) your violation of these Terms or any applicable law.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if continued access poses a risk to other users or the Service.
13. Governing law & jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, subject to mandatory consumer-protection rules in your jurisdiction.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of PhoneLookup after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
